Russian Center for Public Opinion Research has announced the results of a poll concerning attitude to religion.
According to the poll results, the main religion in Russia is Orthodoxy with 63% of Orthodox believers, reports Regnum.
12% of respondents "believe in God, but do not practice any religion". Whereas 6% of respondents are Muslims and 1% claim to be Catholics or Buddhists, the second place with 16% is held by atheists.
Results vary in different parts of Russia: the majority of Muslims live in Volga Federal Region, whereas the highest percent of Catholics (5%) was registered in Russian Far East . The highest rate of atheists (36%) was fixed in Siberia.
