Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich will invest $40 million in the Russian national football team, informs Mosnews.
He has already financed the construction of a new training base and a new stadium, and partly paid national coach Guus Hiddink's salary package. Roman Abramovich financially supports Moscow club CSKA, who last year became the first Russian club to win the UEFA Cup.
Reuters analyst says, Abramovich hopes to revive football in Russia to boost his good reputation at home.
Abramovich owns a successfull sport project: in 2003 he bought Chelsea for 60 million pounds ($118 million). With seemingly limitless funds, Chelsea have won two Premier League titles since his arrival.
