Russia’s ex-finance minister Alexei Kudrin criticized on Thursday Prime Minister Vladimir Putin’s remarks regarding the white ribbons worn by protesters at recent nationwide rallies against alleged electoral fraud.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Thursday said a European Parliament resolution calling for new State Duma elections “means nothing.”

Samara Region Government has finally approved the regional hymn.
In 2004, Governor Konstantin Titov launched a hymn writing competition, inviting people to write a new hymn for Samara Region. For two years the judges have received numerous variants and this October the winners were announced.
The hymn with music by Leonid Vockhmyanin and lyrics by Oleg Bychkov was chosen the official hymn of Samara Region.
Mr Titov said: “With its own hymn Samara Region can feel equal to other Russian regions.”
