The Counter Terrorism Commission of Samara Region has set goals to strengthen protection of citizens during the holiday season.
Regional Militsiya officers will patrol and guard strategic points, as well as areas where people gather during New Year’s celebrations.
According to Vice Governor Sergey Sychov, in the end of December the number of officers assigned to the area will be increased, though he didn’t give an exact number of officers on dury during the holiday time. "Patrolling and additional security measures are effective when they are not visible," – he said.
Samara region’s FSB chief Yuri Rogozhin predicted that firecrackers would traditionally cause a lot of problems this year.
