No entry for Georgian tangerine trucks to Russia · 2007-01-09 18:24
RIA Novosti informed, trucks with Georgian tangerines would not be allowed into Russia. More than 60 Georgian trucks blocked the Transcaucasian Highway as Russian authorities refused them the entry to Russia.
According to Russian sanitary watchdog, the trucks failed to produce the required documents: “The tangerines cannot be brought into Russia as they have not undergone any sanitary control.”
Moreover import of Georgian fruit and vegetables was banned in December 2005.
Relations between Russia and Georgia have been strained recently. In September 2006 after four Russian officers were accused of espionage, Russia cut transportation and postal links with Georgia and deported hundreds of illegal Georgian migrants.
