Pyeongchang in South Korea, Salzburg in Austria and the Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi are the candidates hoping to persuade the IOC of their merits.
The delegation of Sochi, including Sochi Mayor Viktor Kolodyazhny and four-time Olympic swimming champion Alexander Popov, arrived in Lausanne to hand in the documents.
Alexander Popov told RIA Novosti: " The chances of Sochi are very strong, so we should take this chance, not miss it."
The cities will later be visited by the IOC’s evaluation commission. The tour to Sochi is planned for February 2007, official web-site of Sochi 2014 informs. The host city of 2014 Winter Olympics will be announced this July in Guatemala.
