RIA Novosti reports, that Moscow and the rest of Central Russia are experiencing unusually warm weather. The temperatures well above zero and the lack of snow is more typical for October.
“January 10, with a temperature of plus 8, was the warmest in the first 10 days of January in the entire history of meteorological monitoring in Moscow,” the hydro-meteorological bureau for Moscow and the Moscow Region said.
According to meteorologists, strong southwest wind is bringing more warm air to the capital and the temperature will continue to rise.
Warm weather and strong winds contributed to a new flood in St. Petersburg yesterday, with water in the Neva River rising 2.2 meters above the control mark.
Last year most of Russia was gripped by bitter cold as temperatures plummeted to -34?°Celsius on the night of January 19-20, beating the -32?°C record registered in 1927.
