Burj Dubai to become the highest building · 2007-01-18 17:35
Burj Dubai has joined the league of six super-tall buildings in the world that are 100 or more storeys high. This missile-shaped skyscraper in Dubai reached its 100th story on January 16, Albawaba Middle East news agency reported.
On its way to becoming the world’s tallest tower, Burj Dubai is now 347.3 metres high.
Mr Mohamed Ali Alabbar, the chairman of Emaar Properties, said: “As one of only six super-tall structures in the world with 100 storeys or more, Burj Dubai is already an international landmark. The global attention on Burj Dubai is indeed a spotlight on Dubai. The tower is a symbol of the city’s pride and a statement of our arrival on the global scene as one of the world-class cities.”
Every three days 3,000 laborers add a new floor, the $1 billion spire is days away from surpassing a neighboring skyscraper that is currently the tallest in the Middle East and Europe.
