JK Rowling follows Oprah in Forbes' Top List · 2007-01-19 12:51
Oprah Winfrey has topped the list of The 20 Richest Women in Entertain, published by Forbes magazine. She with estimated $1.5bn is followed by JK Rowling, who is worth $1bn.
The American multiple-Emmy Award winner Oprah Winfrey hosts The Oprah Winfrey Show, the highest rated talk show in television history.
Lea Goldman, an editor with Forbes, said: “Only a bona fide superstar can parlay a moment’s stardom into a long and lucrative career.”
“And even that’s not enough to land a coveted spot on our first listing of the 20 Richest Women in Entertainment. For that, you’d need a minimum net worth of $45m.”
To compile the list, Forbes scoured the music, television, film and publishing industries to determine which female celebrities have, over the course of their careers, amassed the greatest fortunes in entertainment, the Herald reported.
