A Cambodian girl has been found after reportedly living wild in the jungle for 19 years, BBC reports.
Deputy provincial police chief Chea Bunthoeun told Associated Press news agency: “A villager spotted a naked human being, who looked like a jungle person, sneaking in to steal his rice.” The villager and some friends then caught the woman.
The girl disappeared in 1988 aged eight while herding buffalo in a remote jungle area, about 200 miles northeast of Cambodia’s capital, Phnom Penh. Her father identified her through scars.
The woman is unable to speak, so cannot identify herself, explain what happened to her, how she survived, or why she did not seek help. According to local police, she is “half-human and half-animal”.
Her father, a village policeman, plans to have DNA tests taken to prove she is his daughter.
