Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe will go from riding a broomstick to riding a horse naked in his London stage debut, Xinhua reported.
For his first major role outside the Harry Potter world, Daniel Radcliffe is stirring up a storm of controversy as his role in Peter Shaffer’s controversial play “Equus.”
The role of stable boy Alan Strang will call for the 17-year-old actor to bare it all on stage.
“This is an extraordinary play,” Radcliffe’s publicist Vanessa Davies said, “and, yes, there is a scene of nudity in it, but that’s not what the play is about.”
Daniel Radcliffe will play the role of Alan Strang, a character who will not only be called on to appear naked in the production, but will also have a sex scene with co-star Joanna Christie. According to ActressArchives.com, Equus claimed Tony Awards for Broadway’s best play in 1975 and for Richard Burton’s 1977 performance.
Daniel Radcliffe’s publicist, Vanessa Davies, was quoted by the London Daily Mail as saying, “Daniel does not want to step away from Harry Potter but he does want to show he is a rounded actor capable of very different and diverse roles. He has tremendous support from Harry Potter fans.”
