Putin: US, its allies to force their will on world · 2007-02-11 12:25
Russian President Vladimir Putin has criticised the United States and its Western allies for what he describes as an attempt to force their will on the world.
Speaking at a conference in Munich, Putin attacked the concept of a "unipolar world', NDTV.com reports.
He implied that the United States is the sole superpower, and its actions abroad worsened existing conflicts.
"Russia’s energy policy is dictated by the market and not subject to political speculation, economic pressure or blackmail," he said.
"We should not impose those agreements on people, otherwise we shall come to a stalemate if someone in this difficult process feels hurt, this could have a detrimental effect for centuries to come".
Explaining his country’s position, Putin said if Moscow saw this happening in the negotiating process, it will not support the outcome.
