Russia attracts more foreign tourists · 2007-03-06 13:40
Official research has revealed that Russia welcomes more foreign tourists, Kommersant informs.
Russian Statistics Service reported, last year Russia hosted 2.433 million foreign tourists, 2 percent more than in 2005.
But the travel agencies are not optimistic predicting at least 10-percent drop in the tourist inflow by the end of 2007. They say, the number of tourist visas is explained by difficulties in obtaining a business visa.
Meanwhile, Russian Statistics Service reported the decline on certain routes from Europe. Travel agents say the drop could be blamed on high prices and lack of the tourist-class hotels in Moscow.
