Al Fayed insists Diana's death is suspicious · 2007-03-19 11:59

Princess DianaMohammed Al Fayed is taking legal action in France against a former Metropolitan Police Commissioner, the BBC reported.

He has alleged that Lord Condon deliberately withheld evidence from the French inquiry into the death of the Princess of Wales in 1997.

He believes that Diana’s claims of a conspiracy to kill her, made two years before her death, should have formed part of Lord Condon’s evidence.

But Lord Condon said he co-operated fully with the investigation in Paris.

In 1995, Diana told her lawyers she believed there was a conspiracy to “put aside” her and Camilla Parker Bowles either in an accident or by other means.

His view then was that the facts showed Diana had died in a tragic accident, but he would review the evidence if her death was ever regarded as suspicious.

Mr Al Fayed alleges Lord Condon should never have concealed potentially relevant information from the French.
