Britney Spears and Kevin Federline have reached a settlement in their divorce.
According to People magazine, the deal was finalised earlier today in a five-hour meeting at the Los Angeles offices of Britney’s lawyer .
“The parties signed a global settlement on all issues of their marriage and the custody of the children,” a spokesman for Federline’s lawyer said. Spears’ attorney, Laura Wasser, declined to comment.
During a 15 minute break from the negotiations, Spears and Federline had a private meeting.
Spears and Federline married in September 2004. They have two children, 18-month-old Sean Preston Federline, and Jayden James Federline, 7 months.
Spears filed for divorce on November 7, 2006, citing irreconcilable differences.
In a temporary agreement, Spears had custody of the boys with Federline granted three days of visiting rights.
When Spears entered rehab after months of wild partying, Federline took care of the boys. It is not known who will be granted custody after the divorce is finalised.
Federline originally asked the court not to award spousal support to Spears because he wanted it for himself, according to papers he filed in November. Spears had petitioned the court that her property — including jewelry and earnings from and after the date of separation — be considered separate from Federline’s.
