The world’s tallest man, Bao Xishun, has finally found his Miss Right, after 56 long years of bachelorhood.
The Guinness Book of World Records confirms Bao as the world’s tallest human being. His height is 2.36 meters whereas his bride, 28-year-old bride Xia Shujuan, is 1.68 meters tall. She only reaches Bao’s elbow.
Xia Shujuan works in a shopping mall in Chifeng, in north China’s Inner Mongolia region.
The couple registered for marriage just a month after they met.
They are said to have felt comfortable with each other right from the first meeting. They plan to hold the wedding ceremony in summer.
Xia Shujuan said that as they got to know each other, she stopped noticing how tall Bao was and was moved instead by his thoughtfulness.
According to earthtimes web site, Bao began to look for a wife last year and received replies from more than 20 ladies in various provinces.
Bao was born in 1951 into a herdsman’s family in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
Until the age of 15 he was of normal height, but then he went through a massive growth spurt, reaching 2.1 metres by the time he was 20. He developed rheumatism when he was young, as he often slept outside on the grassland with legs uncovered.
Despite the trappings of fame, Bao remains shy: “I want to live a normal life like my father, who is 94.”
