England’s Greg Rusedski has retired from the men’s tennis tour.
The 33-year-old Rusedski announced his decision late Saturday after teaming with Jamie Murray on a 6-1 3-6 6-3 7-6 (7-5), doubles victory over Robin Haase and Rogier Wassen of Netherlands that gave England an insurmountable 3-0 lead in their quarterfinal Davis Cup battle.
“It was a proud moment considering this is going to be my last match,” Rusedski told the BBC.
“I’m retired now. I can enjoy life like everybody else. Now it’s time to move on.”
The left-hander native of Montreal ends his career with 15 singles titles, 432 victories and nearly $10 million in prize money.
