After the announcement of his separation will girlfriend of four years, Prince William is back in army training today at a camp in Dorset.
Kate revealed her devastation that an expected announcement of their engagement never came in February.
This is London web site quoted Kate Middleton’s friend as saying:
“As far as she [Kate Middleton] was concerned, it wasn’t a question of ‘if ’, just ‘when’.”
“She openly admitted that she expected a formal announcement to be made by Clarence House.”
Meantime William, 24, had made clear to those close to him that while he was extremely fond of Kate, he never thought of her as “the one”.
He said he was too young to settle down and wanted to throw himself into his career as an Army officer. “All the fun has gone,” he complained. “I don’t want to be nailed down.”
William and Kate reportedly decided to part in the Alps. The pair realised “it was over” during a ski break in the resort of Zermatt, Switzerland, last month, according to a report in The Sun.
Yesterday Kate left the ??1million family home in Bucklebury, Berkshire, to buy the Sunday papers, venturing out once again with her parents and sister Pippa for lunch.
Clarence House has declined to comment. But a source insisted the split was amicable – “It is just a case of two young people drifting apart.”
Another said: “They are still incredibly fond of each other. It was just a case of right girl, wrong time.”
