Alexander Ovechkin commented on Alexander Semin's dismissal from the national side.
Washington Capitals forwards Alexander Ovechkin and Alexander Semin were expected to be partners in the national team at the coming world championships.
However, there is not a ghost of a chance that it will happen as Alexander Semin has been dismissed from the team by the coaching staff for violent conduct.
Semin's friend and teammate Alexander Ovechkin commented on the decision.
"I wish he could play with us at the world championships," said Ovechkin to Sport-Express Daily.
"However, my wish can't change anything."
"The decision has been made and there is no use discussing it."
"He was late to join the team and that's the root of it."
"I know that there were some problems with his flight and the ticket."
"Semin was very distressed when I told him about the decision, he was shocked even."
The team's head coach Vyacheslav Bykov has not proved inclined to revise the decision.
"I have no doubts Semin is eager to play for the national side," said Bukov.
"However, discipline is the same for everyone."
"Semin's chances to play at the world championships are zero now."
