American Idol and Simon Cowell himself are both apologizing for the incident happened during the last show.
When Chris Richardson sent his good wishes out to everyone suffering through the tragedy at Virginia Tech on last night’s American Idol, judge Simon Cowell was clearly rolling his eyes.
The incident has turned from a minor controversy to something that could be a real problem for Fox.
E! reports that Simon Cowell explaines his gesture was actually because of shoddy acoustics and that Cowell couldn’t even hear what Chris Richardson was saying.
Cowell spoke to Ryan Seacrest on his radio show this morning and said that the eye-rolling was for the previous comment by Chris Richardson, who was trying to claim that his nasally singing on Rascall Flatts “Mayberry” was intentional and had nothing to do with Chris’ comments about VT.
Simon Cowell said that “the truth was I switched off at that point. Half the time I can’t hear what they’re saying. My reaction was to what he had said previously, that singing nasally is a form of singing…My eye-rolling was what I was saying to Paula.”
