Actress Kim Basinger has hired a bodyguard for her 11-year-old daughter after a voice-mail message by her father, actor Alec Baldwin, was made public last week, Reuters informed.
The divorced couple has been in a bitter six-year custody battle over their only daughter, Ireland.
Last Thursday the celebrity Web site TMZ.com posted a recording of a phone message Baldwin had left the child, calling her a “rude, thoughtless little pig.”
Baldwin later apologized and accused his ex-wife of leaking the voice mail tape to the media in defiance of a court order sealing material related to their custody proceedings.
TMZ reported that a Los Angeles County Superior Court commissioner temporarily suspended Baldwin’s visitation rights last week after hearing the tape.
