Russia defeated the Czech Republic 4-0 on Wednesday. Evgeni Malkin scored a pair of third-period goals in the first quarterfinal contest of the day.
Alexander Eremenko made 27 saves, earning player of the game honors, in an emotional win for the Russians on Victory Day, a national holiday in Russia, The Sports Network informs.
Andrei Markov and Alexander Radulov also scored for Russia, which avenged a 4-3 overtime setback to the Czechs in the quarterfinal round of last year’s tournament.
Roman Cechmanek made 28 saves for the Czechs, who end the tournament with a 2-3-1 mark.
The undefeated Russians will next face the winner of Thursday's quarterfinal matchup between the United States and Finland in the semis on Saturday.
