??enny Chesney has won his third entertainer of the year trophy at the Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas.
Chesney had also been nominated for top male vocalist but lost out to Brad Paisley. Veteran George Strait took song of the year for Give it Away.
American Idol winner Carrie Underwood took best female vocalist while Rascal Flatts were named best vocal group.
Brooks and Dunn were awarded best vocal duo for the 14th time, BBC informs.
Accepting the award, Chesney paid tribute to George Strait and fellow musician Keith Whitley.
"When I first started playing music, I was in college and I would go rent all my equipment and put it in the back of a pick-up truck. The only thing I wanted to do was cut a record as good as Keith Whitley did, and I listened to that music over and over again" he said.
