British songstress Amy Winehouse, recently married to Blake Fielder-Civil, picked up the best contemporary song at the prestigious Ivor Novello songwriting awards.
As the Amy Winehouse autobiographical top 10 single, “Rehab”, has been receiving critical praise, it was natural that she was presented with the coveted Ivor Novello award for songwriting in London. The Associated Press reports that the hard partying and heavy smoking Amy Winehouse was pleasantly surprised at the gala event and joked with the crowd while at the podium by saying, “Thank you all very much. I didn’t even have time to get drunk – I’ve only been here about 15 minutes.”
While Winehouse was at the event, she also fielded questions about her recent, sudden marriage to Blake Fielder-Civil and agreed that it was a sudden decision, “but that’s the way I am.” Giving a few more details, Amy Winehouse also mentioned that the newlyweds haven’t had time to plan a honeymoon yet, Actress Archives reports.
