Rhys was shot dead a week ago as he walked home from playing football. About 30 potential witnesses to the shooting have yet to come forward, police said, adding that one particular caller may hold the key to solving the crime.

Detective Superintendent Dave Kelly, leading the inquiry made an appeal for the anonymous man who had spoken to police in a brief initial call in the past few days, to call them again, The Guardian reported.

"One man in particular had provided information. I want to thank him ??“ he’s been very brave. We want him to make contact with us again. He can speak to me direct, I will look after him," Mr Kelly said.
