Castroneves and Hough win Dancing With the Stars · 2007-11-28 14:38
Two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves won top hoofer honors Tuesday on the ABC hit show Dancing With the Stars.
"It feels totally different from winning a race," Castroneves said after the show. "I wasn't kidding. This goes right between my two Indy trophies. Otherwise, it would have been a big blank space."
Castroneves, 32, is the fourth consecutive male to win the ballroom dance competition, USA Today informs. The Brazilian's goals were modest before the competition began. "I just didn't
want to be the first voted out," he said. His partner Julianne Hough became two-time winner. In Season 4, Hough danced with Olympic speed skater Apolo Ohno, the eventual champion.
Melanie Brown failed to capture the show's fifth trophy. According to CNN.com, she and her partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, entered the finals in first place, one point ahead of Castroneves and Julianne Hough.
Both couples received perfect scores of 30 from the judges in their final dances Tuesday. But the Brazilian racecar driver's personality and enthusiasm, plus an effortless quickstep on his final performance, earned enough viewer votes to win.
Losing "was a horrible feeling," Brown admitted. "I'm not going to deny it."
"My new goal now is kicking off a great Spice Girls concert tour. I want Maks (Maksim Chmerkovskiy) at every one. He's coming to Vegas and New York and hopefully others,"_ said Melanie.
