Amy Winehouse has developed the chronic lung disease emphysema, possibly due to smoking crack cocaine.
Mitch Winehouse said that he feared his daughter would lose her distinctive voice as well as her life if she could not stops taking drugs. He added that his daughter’s lungs were ‘all gunked up’ due to smoking cigarettes and crack cocaine, Telegraph.co.uk reports.
”She’s got emphysema. It’s in its early stages, but had it gone on for another month they [doctors] painted a very vivid picture of her sitting there with a mask on her face struggling to breathe,” Mr Winehouse said.
He added, that his daughter was determined to stay clean and has begun a drug replacement programme. And he only wanted nobody could be in the way.
”I don’t want her hanging out with her mates like Pete Doherty either. What hope does she have if people are taking drugs around her?” Mitch Winehouse said.
