Amy Winehouse will play through the pain barrier · 2008-06-26 16:42
Amy Winehouse could struggle to hit the high notes in songs because of her serious disease.
The 24-year-old singer is suffering from the early stages of the lung emphysema. Dr Keith Prowse, chairman of the British Lung Foundation warned, that Amy Winehouse will not recover from the disease and her symptoms will only get worse with time.
”There’s nothing immediately that can be done,” he said.
Dr Keith Prowse said emphysema could signal the end of the singer’s career. He warned, that people with this disease ”also need pneumonia and flu jabs in the winter to cut down the chances of them getting ill.”
However, Amy Winehouse is so determined to perform at a concert for Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday concert and Glastonbury this weekend, she will play through the pain barrier with a special St John’s Ambulance crew on standby back stage, Telegraph.co.uk reports.
