Daniel Craig's performance is said to save the show · 2008-10-31 14:53
Princes William and Harry were guests of honour at the new James Bond film Quantum of Solace ’s world premiere in London’s Leicester Square on Wednesday.
The film picks up where the last finished, as Bond seeks revenge for the death of his love Vesper Lynd, and sets out to stop an environmentalist called Dominic Green, played by Mathieu Amalric, from taking control of a country’s water supply.
It boasts two Bond girls – Ukrainian-born Olga Kurylenko as Camille, and British actress Gemma Arterton as Agent Fields.
Some critics have complained that the film has too many action scenes, and lacks the wit and seductive appeal of other Bond hits. But Mark Monahan, the Telegraph’s film reviewer, said that Craig’s performance more than saves the show.
Quantum of Solace is Daniel Craig’s second in the role; his brooding performance in Casino Royale was credited with reinvigorating the franchise. It took ??1.7 million on the first day of its release in the UK alone, grossing more than ??300 million worldwide Telegraph.co.uk reports.
