An artist has created an image of Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole as the iconic Angel of the North statue.
Lee Jones said he felt inspired to portray the 25-year-old singer, from Newcastle, as the landmark Angel after watching her on the ITV1 reality show.
The painting features the X Factor judge dabbing her eyes with a handkerchief to stem a flow of tears.
" I see her as a new icon of popular culture for the 21st Century, a beacon of light in these bleak times," he said.
Cheryl Cole, who found fame on reality show Popstars: The Rivals, achieved notoriety after marrying footballer Ashley Cole in 2006.
She has emerged from a rocky start to the year with a number one album and a host of positive reviews for her sympathetic turn on X Factor.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Angel of the North, which was sculpted by Antony Gormley, BBC informs.
