Octuplets' birth: who is father? · 2009-02-04 10:21
A week ago a California woman Nadya Suleman, 33, gave birth to six boys and two girls. Firstly it was called a miracle.
But soon another description was given to Suleman's action: out of control, New York Daily News reports.
As details emerged, Suleman's story transformed from a dream to a nightmare. Unmarried and with no apparent means of support, she lives with her divorced parents in a three-bedroom house in Whittier, a suburb of Los Angeles. Last year, her mother, Angela Suleman, filed for bankruptcy after a real estate deal gone wrong.
Most shockingly, Nadya Suleman already had six kids, including 2-year-old twins. All 14 were conceived through in vitro fertilization (IVF).
It remains unclear who the father is.
According to Monsters and critics, on the birth certificates of both sets of children, the father is listed as David Solomon, rather than Suleman’s divorced husband Marcos Gutierrez.
Suleman herself has little employment history, though she was working toward a masters degree in child development until spring 2008.
