Just before Victory Day in Russia, that is celebrated in May, 9, a miracle visited one of its cities.
Victory Day is an honorable date in Russian history. It marks the capitulation of Nazi Germany to the Soviet Union (Russian Federation and some other post-Soviet states nowadays) in the Second World War, that's also known as the Great Patriotic War. The murderous war lasted four years, 1941-1945, and became a great tragedy for the whole nation.
The holy face of Saint Cosmas appeared to be on a poplar trunk that nurses had planted in front of military hospital in far 1942 in Russian city Kemerovo. The Saint Cosmas is worshiped as the protector of ill and wounded.
At present days the hospital is a secondary school. During more than 60 years the tree was too great and it was decided to cut it in order not to take damage to the building and pupils. And it was a real miracle when on the saw cut the teachers noticed the holy face of Saint Cosmas!
The priests are also sure that the image on the saw cut is identical to the holy face of Saint Cosmas. The guise looks like Saint Cosmas's. Even the candle in the hands is seen, LIFE.com reports.
So, this miracle happened on the eve of Great Victory is not by chance!
