Kennedy's funeral service and burial will be held on Saturday, August 29, with ceremonies at a Boston church in the morning and a private internment in Arlington National Cemetery in the evening. The laying to rest will conclude a three-day memorial period with events stretching from the late Massachusetts senator's beloved Cape Cod to the nation's most prominent cemetery.

Early Thursday morning a motorcade will leave the family compound on Hyannis Port, Mass., for the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library in Dorchester, Mass., where Kennedy will lay in repose for the public to pay tribute to him on Thursday and again on Friday.

According to The Washington Post, on Friday night, from 7 to 9 pm, there will be a "Celebration of Life Memorial Service" at the JFK library, which will be closed to the public. Media will be allowed to cover the event.

On Saturday morning, Kennedy's funeral mass will take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Basilica in Boston. While his daughter Kara Kennedy Allen battled cancer at a nearby hospital, Kennedy attended this church each day, according to an official family statement. "Over time, the Basilica took on special meaning for him as a place of hope and optimism," it said.

By 5 p.m. Saturday, Kennedy will be buried.
