Burberry, the luxury fashion label, plans to nearly treble the amount of children’s wear it sells.
The company, fronted by Emma Watson, the Harry Potter star, is aiming for children’s fashions to comprise 10 per cent of its business in four years. The proposed push into the lucrative children’s wear market came as Burberry followed up its well-received return to London Fashion Week last month with strong set of first-half figures.
Revenue rose 6 per cent to £572 million in the six months to September 30, Times Online reports. Retail revenue was up 14 per cent on an underlying basis, with like-for-like sales up 2 per cent, which offset declining wholesale revenue.
It said that sales of snoods soared, while demand remained strong for its trench coats and chequered scarves.
Meanwhile according to Telegraph.co.uk, one dark spot for the company was Spain, where sales fell dramatically due to the economy.
