There is scandal in Russia around a person to bear the country's national flag at the Olympic Games opening ceremony in Vancouver this month.
Sports federations offer their own pretender but there in no official decision of Russian Olympic Committee still. Hockey team captain Aleksey Morozov, figure skater Evgeni Plushenko, tobogganer Albert Demchenko, curling team captain Ludmila Privivkova as well as biathlonist Olga Zaitseva were called among sportsmen to bear the flag.
The scandal fired after Russian Olympic champion in figure skating Anton Sikharulidze had named his favourite. Russian Curling Federation poured oil on the flames after had posted the announcement on the official site that told it would be Ludmila Privivkova to bear the flag.
Gennadiy Shvets, Russian Olympic Committee spokesman, made the scandal around the standard-bearer come to the end. "The name will be announced in Vancouver itself during the captains' council", he said.
