Miss Russia Anna Malova is taken away by police · 2010-05-20 18:16
In 1998, Anna Malova was Miss Russia and a Miss Universe semifinalist. Now the NYPD has revealed that she has been hiding an ugly habit that has gotten her in trouble again.
A special narcotics officer apprehended the former beauty queen right after she walked out of a pharmacy on 6th Avenue in Greenwich Village.
Malova, 38, reacted calmly as she was taken away. Just 12 years ago, the former Miss World and Miss Russia seemed to be on top of the world after she made the top 10 in the Miss Universe pageant.
She was charged with criminal possession of narcotics, forgery and criminal impersonation of a physician.
The pharmacist said Malova's doctor believed Malova stole a prescription pad and wrote out phony prescriptions for painkillers.
Fox 5 uncovered that police arrested Malova less than 3 months ago charging her with petty larceny for the same exact crime.
Malova was praised for being a medical doctor in her native Russia when she won the Miss Russia crown, but is not licensed to practice medicine here in the United States, My Fox New York reports.
