The French Republic awarded Avtograd Library Director Nadezhda Bulyukina with the Order of the Knight “Academic Palms”.
French Order of Academic Palms (Ordre des Palmes acad"?miques) is awarded for achievements in public education and academia, as well as for disseminating of French culture in other countries. As the press-service of the Department of Culture Hall of Togliatti informs, Eugene Chazov, the doctor, and Anatoly Vasiliev, the film director, were among prominent Russians, who were awarded with the Order of Academic Palms.
By analogy with the Order of Legion of Honor this award is called the Order of Purple Legion. The Order was established by Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte in 1808. It has three degrees: Chevalier, Officer and Commander. The foreigners and Frenchmen, who actively contribute to French culture spreading, may be awarded with the Order of Academic Palms.
