The car market of Russia in the fifth place in Europe · 2018-06-13 11:22

Russia remained on the fifth place among the largest automobile markets in Europe in May 2018. In total, 138 thousand cars were sold in Russia without LCV in the past month, “Autostat” reports.

The first place in the ranking is Germany. For a month, 305,057 vehicles were sold in the local market. This figure is 5.8% lower than the figures for the same period last year. France ranks second with 229,259 cars sold (+ 0.4%).

Closes the top three of Italy. In this country in May, 199113 cars were sold (-2.8%). The Italian Association of Automobile Manufacturers (ANFIA) said that after the April demand growth, a negative result was again recorded, which may be due to the uncertain political situation in the country.

On the fourth place – Great Britain. Last month, 192,649 vehicles were sold in the country (+ 3.4%). As noted in the British Society of Automobile Manufacturers and Car Dealers (SMMT), sales growth was largely due to the low base of last year due to the introduction of new vehicle excises from April 1, as well as the caution of British consumers in the run-up to the parliamentary elections in June 2017.
